About Interceptor

Concerned about your pet’s care? Give your dog Interceptor Flavor Tabs, the dog medicine that prevents heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis, the control of adult Ancylostoma caninum (hookworm), and the removal and control of adult Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina (roundworms) and Trichuris vulpis (whipworm) infections.

You only have to give your dog Interceptor Flavor Tabs once a month, an advantage when it comes to your dog’s care. Interceptor Flavor Tabs can be given to dogs and puppies four weeks of age or greater, and two pounds body weight or greater.

Manufacturer

Novartis

Directions

Interceptor flavored tablets should be administered once a month year-round, or at least during and one month following mosquito season; animals that are traveling for the first time to heartworm-risk areas should begin treatment a month prior. Interceptor is available in flavored chewable tablets that should not be swallowed whole (and can be broken up to prevent such a thing from happening), and can be given directly into the pet’s mouth or together with food. Dosage is dependant on weight.

  • 2-10 pounds is 2.3mg
  • 11-25 pounds is 5.75mg
  • 26-50 pounds is 11.5mg
  • 51-100 pounds is 23mg

In cats, the usual dose is:

  • 1.5-6 pounds is 5.75mg

Like the protection, hate the tablet!

At the recommendation of my vet, I switched to Interceptor from the Heartgard because it protects against an additional worm. For this, I will continue to use the product. However, my dog LOVES the chewy Heartgard formulation and HATES the Interceptor tablet. We have to mask it in a hunk of cheese, which I don't like giving my dog. I wish the Interceptor had the consitency of a treat rather than that of a hard vitamin-like tablet.

And it tastes good too!

Interceptor is so easy to give to your dog. I have three dogs and they all line up and wait like they are getting a treat.

Excellent product and service

I've used Interceptor on the advise of my vet for years. Was more than pleased to find it here at a much better price. I didn't have a prescription when I placed my order but that was no problem, PetCareRX took care of contacting my vet and I had the medication in a week! Great Job!!

Great for your dog's paws, too

My dogs love the taste of Interceptor as if it were a treat. With three large dogs, it is important to make "medicine time" quick and easy for me. I also had a problem with hookworm sores on my female's paws. She had weeping sores with pus inside and after one round of expensive Cipro, and continued use of Interceptor, she has not suffered this malady again. That's
